Three years ago, a very good friend moved to Florida. Fortunately, I talk to him every Saturday on the phone for about an hour.
Right after that, another friend moved to NJ about an hour away, but he is so busy that we rarely communicate.
Three weeks ago, a woman who I knew for 25 years and lived near me died of lung cancer. I still can't believe it.
Then this week, my best friend sold his house and will probably move to Virginia in the next couple of months.
I am glad that I am close to my mother and my youngest sister. And thank God for my wonderful cat, whom I adore.
I never expected all of this within such a short period.

everyone is moving south! how do you feel about PA winters? i would say you have a couple of great places where friends live to go stay awhile during the winter. ;)
if it weren't for family i would probably be in a warmer climate myself. so, if you are staying for them i understand, but if you aren't - consider moving and take your cat too. http://www.downtownellijay.com/emoticons/emotion-101.gif

I hate Pa. winters and I hate the humidity here all year round. I would consider moving to Virginia, but I really can't do anything while my mother is alive. It's a long story. And I am not as adventurous as I once was. I am sorta stuck here for the time being.
And about the cat: If anyone would have told me years ago that a cat could become a such a good buddy, I would have laughed at them. But I know people who think the same way as I do.

you don't need a long story to say why you want to take care of moms. that's cool you're doing it.
