Carfax is very agressive about shutting down service sharing. They scour the internet, find threads like this, see the VIN, find out someone used their service a day after the post was made to check that VIN, and then cancel the account. It has happened several times in the past year on a auto forum I'm on. For all we know they might even have agents signing up on forums to entrap people into violating the terms of service.

Honestly, I don't put much stock into Carfax anymore... They sure as hell didn't catch anything with all the problems I had with the used 1999 Dodge Dakota I had...

That vehicle had...

1) A replaced broken winshield that was never reported
2) Paint issues that were never reported
3) The engine was listed in the Dodge database as "ineligible for warranty service" (something I found out 8 months after I bought it using a CarFax report to check it as clean)
