Her tumors were much worse, her appetite was gone and she'd lost so much weight but it still seemed like such a tough decision for Carla and I. :( We found her in the driveway right after we got married and she was such a delight. Then, when we had her declawed we found out she had no immune system. 8 mos of treatments and she finally recovered, but the vets all said she wouldn't make it two years. We got a crazy, vocal Siamese to keep her company and she changed! She lived happily until last year we found her first lump. We knew we couldn't operate and so we just made her life as happy as possible. Now she is gone and I miss my little girl. My wife and I can't have kids, so these kitties are our children. It's tough. I hope she's in some happy place sniffing everything and laying in the sunshine.
Bless all,
thresh

Ohhh No..I'm soo sorry. I know the feeling as I thought that I'd be having to put my sweet Chetta down this week as well and it killed me. Pets are people too-that's the way I see it, there are loads of kitties out there that need homes though, perhaps you can find another that will give you and your wife as much joy as this one did.

oh thresh....I feel your pain. pets (especially cats) are comforting! I'm glad that your kitty didn't have pain while passing on. 15 years is a VERY long life for a cat. we put my other cat to sleep last year and she was 16. Cats always seem to know when you're sad...they jump on your laps at just the right times! I feel for you thresh! take it easy...

bummer man, it's hard losing a pet... my aunt and uncle have dragged out the life of one of their dogs beyond sanity... dogs pisses everywhere, can barely move, is completely cancered out and they've spent a small fortune keeping it alive...

i think you did the right thing.

The only thing that healed my pain after I put my cat to sleep nearly 4 years ago was another cat.

Cats are so underrated as pets. They are extremely sensitive and a total joy to be around.

I feel your pain. It is such a great loss.

My heart goes out to you. I hope that your pain heals quickly, I can't even imagine having to do that to my cat.... or any of my pets really.... remember the good times.

My family had a Yorkshire Terrrier that made it to almost 19 years (died in 1997). My parents moved in 1993 to a cooler climate (from southern California to central Illinois) and it was almost like he (Snoopy) was born again. He almost was like a puppy. I guess the cooler climate was a lot better for him. When he died, that was the last pet my parents had. He was so much of a part of their life I don't think they could replace him. He died in his sleep. I'm glad that I wasn't there to see that. I don't think that I would've handled it well. Pets give so much to you and ask for little in return. I'm looking for a house, and it'll definitely have a pet.

Thanks ya'll. I cried a little but poor Carla is taking it really hard. She was floored we have such a cool group here on GA. You should have seen her last year when I said I had to buy a Christmas present for someone I didn't know to send to a place I had never been. Hilarious. Thanks again so much for the support. It means a lot.

Very very sorry to hear that thresher. :(
Be glad for the times that you spent together, and also for the fact that your kitty is now in a happy place without pain.
