I have this really old pci tv-tuner that I got in a box of random computer crap, I would like to test it out and see if it works at all, but I have no idea what exactly the card is. I plugged it in and booted windows up and windows recognized it as a vga controller and/or a media controller (2 things..). Windows could not find a driver for it, and it sits there now not working as an unknown device.
I used Everest to look at it to see if it could probe the device and get some manufacturer information from the registers in the card. It appears that the card uses some BVT brand chipset, which I googled and was pointed after a while towards AverTv? (i'll respond here with more info tonight when I get home)
Here's what I got from Everest:
Brooktree BtV 2165 Mediastream Controller
My question is...... how do I go about finding which drivers and software for the card I need when I do not know what the card is.. short of pulling it out and doing serial number lookups? The AverTv website has all kinds of different tv-tuners listed but I'm not even sure where to begin...
Any thoughts/suggestions for where to start looking for drivers/etc??
