gross...funny, the bears are "sloth" bears. I would think they would move slowly..I guess not.

So sucks for the people watching. The San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park has several large enclosures (acres and acres big) that house several types of animals, sometimes within the same food chain, but nothing like this has ever happened...that I know of anyway.

Crazy stuff.

hehe I was at the San diego zoo checking out the giant tortoises and two of them started going at it. It was the funniest thing I had seen in a long time. The male had mounted the femail from the back so its front legs were up on the females shell. It would then thrust which would make a loud thud and you could hear his feet scraping the shell. Then he would wait 20-30secs and thrust again.

The best part of it was watching the familes walk by. The dads would start laughing and watch, the moms would try to rush the kids away before they started asking question.

Best zoo trip I ever had :)

Aw come on. How is this any different from watching the lions take down a wildebeast on the Discovery Channel? There is a reason all the shows always show the animals hunting. Because it is what people want to see. This time folks just got to see it in living color.

yes yes, well, i've been identified as both at one time or another, so i accept it. but in my defense, i have to agree with what merlin just stated above me.

Watching one animal kill another for entertainment would be morbid. Watching one animal kill another for food is called nature.

Make that a group of Grizzly bears versus the gorillas, and I'd say that you'd have a pretty good Royal Rumble match there. :heh:

This reminded me of a Nat'l Geographic where Gorillas would hunt down a smaller tree monkey and eat one every so often. The extra protein helped the dominant Gorilla stay dominant. Seems like those smaller monkeys aren't very smart because they should be able to just get to a place with more trees or something.
