the resolution of this issue is long overdue.

should we build a wall, staff the border with the national guard indefinitely, hire more (this is long overdue) border patrol agents, or what? how can we keep illegals out and also keep terrorists out just the same?

I'm all for drastic steps to reduce this problem. Ignoring it, not being tough on it, and pandering to a portion of the populace on it will only create bigger problems down the road.

well, SOMETHING has to be done..not quite sure what..if you ask me, it doesn't matter how the borders are secured, People-illegal, terrorists, or just plain old regular folks looking for a better life, WILL find a way across if they are determined enough.

To me it is like every other major problem/issue, just doing one thing will not solve anything.

Let's say you put the guard there and it reduces the influx by n%. The opponents say "see, that didn't help because lots of people still get through."

You need to build a wall to stop a certain %, use the National Guard where necessary, hire more border patrol, have a better secure id card system, make it harder for companies to hire illegals, take away the law that makes children of illegals born here citizens, etc.

Each one of these by itself will only help the situation by a small percentage....but together, when you add up each one you get a high-prcentage solution.

Why does everybody just want to treat the symptoms? Aren't you conservative types AGAINST throwing money at the problems to fix them? Building a wall, hiring more patrol, and staffing the area with Guard all cost money.

If you're so committed to stopping the illegal immigration, there is only two things you have to do, and it doesn't require creating any new laws: 1) Enforce laws that impose fines and jail time on businesses that hire illegals, and 2) Tell your Reps and Senators that you'll vote them out if they don't start making public threats and arrests on those businesses. "Problem" solved. Additional cost to tax payers: $0.
