Why is GAM anonymous?

That's exactly my point. There are numerous topics GAMs want to discuss. Therefore, outsource the GAM position so that these members can participate.

Ehh, I'm not being clear: the GAM should be a non-interested 3rd party. Someone who has no interest in involving themselves in the conversations posted here. It's the only way that they can remain neutral in the monitoring of the board.

GAM is anonymous so that multiple people can fulfill the role yet you can't single out which person actually performed what action (especially when you disagree with the action). Therefore under their "regular" screen names they can live normal lives in the forums without worrying about folks making comments to their personal posts versus their official posts.

In other words, if you don't know which one did it... you can't persecute the individuals who have the authority to do it when they are on their personal accounts.

This is most likely why GAM is anonymous.

get over it. you want to run the forums, then go create your own. The site is called got|apex... Apex runs it and he can run it however he wants. No one is making you participate; if you don't like it, then go find another forum community.

:shrug: no one can be completely impartial, the GAMs are human. They're just doing their jobs, and trying the best they can to keep things decent. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes, or their line of thinking.

Does complaining about every little thing actually help resolve issues? It's not a love it or leave it mentality. It's more people complaining for the sake of complaining and aggravating those who still enjoy the forums for what they are.

Some of you say that the Political Forums drove traffic here. I would love to see how many "veteran" posters left the boards when the Political Forums were first introduced.

I don't remember anyone leaving the site after introduction of the PF and would be confused if anyone had. Its creation was effectively a value added that helped eliminate much of the political discussion that was occurring in the OT forum. It was probably helpful to those who were sick of seeing political issues discussed in this forum.

It's one thing to make helpful suggestions to improve a situation, it's another thing to whine like a bunch of brats about how awful things are, how mean people are being to you, and you could run things better, blah blah blah. (not trying to make a personal attack by using the pronoun "you", i'm actually making a general statement about the types of posts I've seen lately in the past few weeks)

If you want to change something (in america, in a company, in your relationship, whatever), you can't just bitch about how awful the authority figure is, and expect that to be taken as constructive. If you really want to change, then start making rational suggestions.

And if someone tells you no... well, it's not your site, so too bad. Last I checked, there is no law that g|a has to be fair.

Why is it bad to have a Gam who is many. I would imagine it helps keep them consistent in that, one Gam won't hate you because he won't have to regulate on every post one makes. Granter people may call strikes and balls differently, but hey its just like the real world. one boss thinks its ok to talk Lakers at the water cooler, and the other doesn't.

They are willing to step in and do the dirty work when no one else has stepped up and volunteered. If truly we were to want a political forum, perhaps we would need everyone to moderate and say that you must moderate a thread for every 5 posts you make. I think that would have all of us reading a lot more and understanding how hard it can be to act impartial towards everyone. Cause no matter what call you make, you'll always bother someone. Just like being a referee.

Personallly I think the GAM's do fine, but i can understand their frustrations. We do play like kids in a sandbox some days.
