Just a simple, but effective composition of a subject most people would not have paid any attention to. The wall, posts, trash can, and tree are all green. Something caught my eye as I rode past it. Almost a Japanese look to it. There is some distortion of the horizon due to the wide angle I was using. Darn it.

Nice. What lens were you using for that pic? I know it was wide due to the horizon bend, but it's otherwise a neato picto. You could probably correct that in PS anyway, but I wouldn't. I'm too much of a purist. Digital scares me.

The zoom on my camera is equal to a 28- 200mm lens on a 35mm camera. I am not sure where it was at for this shot, but definately in the wide (but not widest) portion.

mmm cant say i find it all too interesting.
the composition doesnt feel right. there's too much asphalt in the image, you cut the top of the tree off, and well yeah you pointed out the distortion of the lense; doesnt look too straight.

You can't really help the distortion in a wide angle lens. If you notice, the bottom of the building and the marks on the asphalt are also bent, but the other way. The pseudo-paralax effect is impossible to get rid of, unless you're shooting very close up with that lens and it doesn't matter.
W/35 mm, if you stick with a 50-55 mm or so lens, it's usually not a problem and is roughly equivalent to perceived eye-distance.
Zoom lenses are inherently flawed, though. Most are pretty good, but nothing beats a native telephoto or native wide or normal lens. You lose some resolution with variable lenses - more air, more glass, etc.
That said, I like the composition. Though you really don't have a real subject, there is good use of the rule of thirds with the tree's position, and the color saturation is great (enhanced by photoshop?). I like it. I like vivid colors anyway. I always go for vivid or B&W. :)
