after years and years and years of wanting and being too cheap to spend the money, shooting friends guns, and a few shows under my belt..... i FINALLY picked up a handgun.
I ended up with a brand new CZ-USA 75 .40 cal....
I was picking up Kimbers and Paraordinance's all day long - they're the only ones that really fit well... in fact, the one guns that fit well were $500 and up.... picked this one up on my way out the door and liked it so much i actually bought it.
CZ-USA Specs (http://www.cz-usa.com/product_detail.php?id=63)
http://www.cz-usa.com/data/productimg/main063.png
Features Cock and lock safety, dual action (single / double), 10+1, polycoated exterior, steel frame (also available in a composite frame, but i liked the steel better), slide in frame (instead of over frame like the glocks)....
Should definitely be a keeper.

Good choice! Modern CZs are damn good. They are well-designed, and while not as refined as, say, a Beretta or Kimber, they are known for being great guns. And the cock/lock state is cool. Though I have gotten used to having no external safety using Glocks. :)

I shot way over 200 rounds by myself yesterday. My bro as you all know works at a range, and it's just awesome that people are so stinking nice at the range. I shot a 10/.22 with a huge Bausch & Lomb scope. Fun stuff. Shot a bunch of the range guns, Glocks, S&Ws, Rugers, and from .22s to .40s and what not. Even after all that, I love my brother's HK USP. I need to shoot some revolvers and magnums next time I go. Damn, short trip s home suck.

Yeah, gun people are usually very, very nice guys. I prefer Glocks to most other autos, but HK's are great. I'd just have to train myself to use the mag release. :)
H <----needs to go to the range. And install a GhostRocket trigger system in the Glock. Lighter, faster, less overtravel, etc = more accurate and quicker followups.

what is this ghostrocket that you speak of? I've gotten pretty used to my trigger pull on the 19, to the point that i can pull off a bunch of rounds quickly and accurately. It's a pretty interesting trigger when you get used to it.... just sooo much extra pull in there. Maybe it's necessary for the safety?

No, actually it's not necessary for the internal safeties. The ghostrocket is just a small piece that replaces the shiny part in the rear of the frame (can see it right after removing the slide) that controls overtravel, trigger actuation, etc. Can't think of the name of the part. At any rate, many competition shooters use them, as the triggers are very smooth and the firing points are very predictable. After the click, the trigger doesn't keep moving back, so trigger reset is nice and smooth. I'll likely be dropping it into my 19 tomorrow or so. I've shot a 26 recently that had one, and it is so much better than the stock trigger. Yeah, it's lighter, but not necessarily more dangerous. As long as you keep your finger out of the trigger guard until you're ready to shoot, the pull weight could be 1 pound and the gun would STILL be as safe as anything else, for the most part. It doesn't affect the internal safeties nor the trigger safety, so the gun is still not cocked nor is the firing striker near the primer until you pull the trigger. It's just a small part that makes the trigger system on a Glock better without compromising Glock's awesome safety system.

As H said, rather verbosely,:ptlaugh: the ghost rocket is a replacement 3.5# connector with an overtravel stop built in. It replaces the factory connector and needs to be fit to each weapon. They about $25 and are available from www.Brownells.com

hehe just now checking back on this thread lol...
anyway the CZ probably has 500 - 600 rounds through it, i took the Concealed carry class, and am going to fill out the OSBI forms soon...
gun needed a stronger extractor spring to keep it from haveing FTE problems, and now i think it needs a stronger recoil spring as rounds are getting hung up halfway up the feedramp, even though i polished it.
lots of fun. Have friends with some AR-15s that are quite the blast with some good scopes... want to get one, but i need to finish building my AK-47 from the parts fit first.

How did I miss this thread? Congrats Nano!
Hmm, if you're having feed problems with a gun that has 500-600 rounds through it, it's probably been broken in.
The first thing I'd ask is if the rounds you're using are standard full-powered .40's and not weakened reloads. That might cause feed and extraction problems. Otherwise, for you to have to replace parts already would make me question if you shouldn't write CZ and ask them for warranty repair.

And the obligatory easy question: is it clean?
