Air marshal drops bullets, leaves plane
Air marshal drops bullets, leaves plane
CHICAGO (AP) — A U.S. air marshal removed himself from a Southwest Airlines flight Thursday after dropping a clip of bullets on the floor just before the plane was to take off, an airline spokeswoman said. The marshal arrived at Midway International Airport on a flight from Philadelphia and was boarding a flight to Kansas City when the clip fell to the floor, scattering bullets, Southwest spokeswoman Whitney Eichinger told the Chicago Tribune for a story on its website. READ MORE: Cover blown, but another air marshal still flies "Since he was no longer traveling incognito, he decided not to continue on the flight," Eichinger said, adding that no extra screening of passengers was necessary because officials determined the bullets belonged to the air marshal. "He picked the bullets up immediately." The flight to Kansas City was delayed 45 minutes because of the incident, she said. The Federal Air Marshal Service declined to confirm the specifics of the mishap. But agency spokesman Dave Adams said an ammunition clip was located and turned over to the Transportation Security Administration. |

lol Whoops. Wonder if the other passengers were all aware of what happened at the time or not.

Very, very , very unlikely. I can't think of any modern pistol that will "go off" when dropped. |

He must have been thinking of that mysterious gun that people claim to the police that it "just went off" without squeezing the trigger. ![]() |

Yeah, or the ones the police have that "just went off" when cleaning (how the hell does that happen anyway? Who cleans a loaded gun?) or holstering, blowing a hole or two in a leg b/c he/she forgot to remove his/her finger from the guard before re-holstering. Basic pistol safety 101. Finger off trigger/out of guard until ready to shoot, despite what you see on movies. IRL, dropping guns doesn't make them discharge. Too many safety features in place, even in the dreaded "Glock" or "Sig" that don't have external safeties. And I like it that way. H <---safety = b/w your ears, not on some switch gizmo on your firearm. |
