Hey people, I need all your input here. I recently bought a Lexus GS430 and I'm gonna upgrade the shock/spring set. There are two options here, either Bilstein or TRD (L-Tune). Please post up any experience or opinion you have. Thank you.

hey, congrats on the new purchase of a lexus! that is such an awesome car. from what i gather, you want to lower the car with this new shock/spring setup. i wouldn't limit my choices to those of trd and bilstein. TEIN Coil-Over Suspension, Intrax Coil-Over Suspension, Eibach Springs, Intrax Springs, all make good springs for the lexus. and KYB makes a good shock for you car also. these parts can be picked up from Rod Millen Motorsports (www.rodmillen.com)
my experience with tuning cars is pretty great. i own a 96 gs300 with a twin turbo setup, HKS turbos, front mount intercooler, and Blitz blow off valves and exhaust. the handling side of the car is taken of by a tein coil over setup. coilovers will cost a signifigant amount more than the typical set of springs, but its adjustability for street, track (quarter mile or road course), and ability to be rebuilt best suits my needs. before that, i had eibach springs with the KYB shocks. those are adjustable units, and they maintain the lexus's supple ride, while still keeping the car firm, and reducing body roll. most all shocks come with a lifetime warranty.

I'd definitely go for TEIN if I have any money left! L-Sportline's shocks are manufactured by Bilstein and
have been revalved to match their springs rates (which in turn have been re-calculated to be a true triple progressive rate where as the original Eibach's have a progressive rate 2X). On the other hand, if I get L-Tune shocks and installed them in the dealer, it will keep the warrenty! The reason I'm limited by either L-Sportline or L-Tune is that I know people from both sides and they are both good friends of mine. This shock set will be temporary 'til I upgrade to TEIN. Meanwhile I've heard some saying that Bilstein is much stiffer than Eibach. It ain't worth the money. What do you think?

a friend of mine deals bilstein and koni and kyb and he gets less complaints about the bilsteins than any of the others. if you go for an ajustable bilstein you should be pretty happy, you wont be limited to any particular ride style. if you're gonna go for a spring change too, get an adjustable shock and a constant rate spring.
