A friend of mine is saying how great his K&N filter-charger(those metallic reusable air filters). He says that it helped alot withy low end torque and mileage. How big of a difference is it? Any experiences?

A 4 banger with a big fat air inatake and filter SUCKS literally. Waste of time and money. Unless you plan on driving your car in the upper 4,000+ RPM range.
This is my experience.............BTW I drive a Civic EX 5spd. |

It really matters. Force Fed engines typically gain much more from this than normally aspirated ones. Also, the gain is more in the mid and high end of the rpm range, not really the low end.
BTW, oiled foam filters much better than oiled paper. The standard paper filter still filters the best though. HOWEVER, keep in mind, this difference is very slight over the life of the car. |

Hmm, i have a 91 eclipse, 1.8l, no turbo, do you recommend that i get it, at the moment i'm using a paper filter.

You'll get, if lucky a peak of 1.5hp to the engine, which translates to about 1.2hp to the wheels.

I recommend getting a K&N drop in filter, one that basically replace the OEM. Thats what I am gonna do instead of buy a new filter every 10,000 miles.

Hell yeah Giambona! Well wait till the stock is dirty first don't wanna waste it now. Now if you find a cheap place that sell K&N, hook me up.
