Filled my tank for $0.59

Score!

Got meself 15 gallons of 89 octane last night for a grand total of $0.59. Apparently someone messed up 'cause I think it was supposed to cost a bit more than $0.039 per gallon. The pumps were programmed wrong.

I love the "Thank You, Have a Nice Day" at the bottom of the receipt. They weren't kidding!

Heh...cool. Now you just need to go on a spirited, scenic drive and refill for another couple of dimes.

And your Mastercard company will think you've lost it...charging 59c.

This really could make national headlines, especially since you have a receipt.

So you actually paid only $0.59 or did the receipt just print wrong?

It's kinda funny story, actually. Was hanging out in a bar watching the Sabres game Thursday night with a buddy of mine. A friend of his showed up and said that on the way there he'd stopped for gas at a station ~10 miles away and saw the pump was only charging 3 cents per gallon. I didn't know where it was but I told my friend that if he was going I'd follow, so we went. Got there and the price on the pumps was $0.039 per gallon so we filled up.

The reciept is crumpled pretty badly from getting passed around the bar after we returned.

Here's a shot of the pump:

Sorry for the glare, that's the best I could get it with a quick photoshop effort.

I can't imagine a store doing that. The negative pub would be much worse than the lost profits.

Nice find Nap, congrats on the "deal".

I think ive heard of it happening in my area. Also the correct price was posted so, it actually might not be illegal for them to do.

Not debating the legality, am simply pointing out the "smart business/customer service" factor.

That actually happened to me a few weeks ago, but as I was getting ready to get in my car and drive off, the cashier ran out from inside telling me, "stop! stop!", in his heavy accent.

I dont think they can recharge you for it... And they're loosing a lot of money on that, because gas is hardly marked up by gas stations, its a volume item that's supposed to get people to come into the store and pay $1.79 for a $0.04 cup of soda, or $7.99 for a bag of beef jerkey...

The $0.59 charge finally showed up on my statement today (delay of 6 days?!). I'd be surprised if they try to recharge it, that wouldn't hold up. I'm guesing there's not much they can/will do other than just eat the loss.

Maybe you could go in and buy an overpriced soda... you know, to ease the conscience.

or buy a pack of cigarettes, there is an at least 100% markup on cigs, i used to work for a gas station... (it sucked).. but yeah, the station lost its tobacco license for a month after I had left, and they simply shut down the store for that month.

Man. You should of just stacked up for the rest of the Year since gas prices are going to sky rocket.

They shouldn't change the since you have a receipt and its already printed on your statement.

I also bet the people at the bar also wanted to get dibs on the $0.039 ppg.
