VW Golf + Hayabusa engine

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/16/v...ine-holy-crap/

Quote:
These guys have taken a Mk1 VW Golf, converted it to rear-wheel-drive, and dropped a turbocharged, 350-horsepower Hayabusa mill under the hood. It looks like a ton of fun, sounds completely evil, and its acceleration is, well... rather brisk...

Unreal...

HAHA that thing is freaky. i mean im hearing a bike but im seeing a VW. im guessing the reason why they want a 1.3liter bike motor is because it can rev upto 17000rpm. turboing it was pretty crazy. i've seen videos of the 1300 turboed on a hayabusa. you cant even keep the front end down.

E ticket! Was there any mention of the quarter mile on that vw? The japanese used to swap out 6 cylinder motors for 4 bangers in supras, etc., to lighten them and for better balance. I imagine that the hyabusa motor is lighter and should make for some interesting swaps.

Hayabusa is the Japanese word for Falcon. I thought it translated into the English term "insanity" when I first read the horsepower rating, top speed, and 0-60 time - not to mention the insurance rate...
