Internet Movie Cars Database

My father just found this site and shared it with me:

http://www.imcdb.org/

Basically people are digging through movies and cataloging the classic cars that are in them.

So why is this so interesting to me?

The one featured here belonged to me when this movie was filmed:

That's cool - I always wondered where they came up with all of those classic cars when they shoot a movie.

Well, my father owns about 18 classic cars, mostly from 1956. Someone started contacting car clubs looking for specific period cars, and my father is a bigshot in one of the clubs, so they got directed towards him.

My father has had his cars in six or seven movies, and they often throw the drivers in as unpaid extras, so both my parents are in background shots.

I didn't even know that my father had sent in a picture of my car until I got the call. It was pretty cool being on the movie set and just watching what was going on, though a lot of the time I had to sit in a parking lot down the street. They wanted all the cars ready at a moments notice since for the most part they were randomly scattered background cars.

Too bad the movie sucked.
