Question

Got a question about my brake rotors. I currently have around 54K on the '96 Acura Integra GS-R. My brake rotors are just about worn through, and the dealership quoted me for resurfacing both the front and the rear for close to $300 after labor (ouch).
I am aware of aftermarket rotors, and was wondering if any of you have had any experience with them. In an issue of Sport Compact I was reading, they slapped on a pair of AEM rotors and pads on a '00 Civic SI, improving stopping distances noticably. I was wondering if this would be more cost efficient in the long run and would make more sense, especially if you're getting better response from your brakes.

Here's the link to AEM's website.

Hey there are other brand of rotors besides AEM. And D@mn $300.00 to resurface? And besides I think the rotor that AEM sell is too big for your caliper. I think you can order rotor in Super Street Magazine for $70.00 a piece. The front are expensive than the back. And beside use cross drill on the front and keep with stock on the back cause the front takes more abusing. That should be a cheap and very effective solution.

Hope this Help,
Nhbilly

P.S. stay off the metalic pad even though there is marginal improvement in braking, they wear the rotors quick!

p.s.s cross drill is prone to cracking, only if you drive and brake as if you are a F1 racer. But they sure as work better than the normal rotor.

Thumbs up

I work for a major Repair center and can tell you from from what I've seen metalic pad wear your rotors quicker.. but the organic pads will warp your rotors and require more service visits to have them turned.. so you make the call you will pay more in the long run if you go organic and will have less braking power.

just my 2 cents
