I've been pulled over for being seen drinking "something". Of course that something turned out to be a Diet Coke bottle.

I've been in many back at home in Korea where it's commonplace for 20 officers to block a whole street off and create a DUI check point. 2-3 officers take each lane and make every driver do a breathalizer test. I actually think it's a good thing that they do it.

Yes. Pulled over once and made to take a field sobriety test. I was DWS (Driving while stupid) which is why I got pulled over. I had no problems at all passing the test. They made me do everything 3 times and I never had a problem. They made me take the test when I told them I only had 1 beer. I really did only have one beer and that was 2 hours prior to me driving. I laugh about it now but I was scared then.

Thankfully, I did not have to take the breath-a-lie-zer (sp? ) test. With my luck it would have malfunctioned and I would have had .30 BAC. I think they were surprised at just how good my balance was. They kept asking me to repeat the different field sobriety tests. |

No. I will never put myself in that situation. My ex-bro-in law spend 5 years in jail for multiple DUI's.
If you must drink call a cab. Way cheaper in the end.

So then, I'll be first to admit. In my early adult years I did stupid things like drinking and driving.
I was partying with friends at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana and got stopped by Security Police. Failed field test and at station blew a .144. They released me to my older brother and my father had to see his commander and go in front of the judge for me, (even at 20 I was still a dependant until 21 and his responsibility in the eyes of the military). My fine was $350 and sentence was one year complete sobriety, 35 hours community service and AA classes for one month. DWI did not go on my civilian record but did stay on military record for few years. Was light punishment but scared the crap out of me and I have never driven after a drink since...not even one. Funny thing was about two years later I went out with other friends in New Mexico and refused to drive but the owner of the vehicle was drunk also. What do you know I got arrested anyway and I was in the back seat. Seems that New Mexico has a law that states if you are in a vehicle with a drvier under the influence, then you get charged with contributing to the crime of DWI. Couldn't win for losing. But now at 40 I rarely drink and don't even go out to clubs anymore.

I got stopped for both DWB and DUI. Officer claimed I "weaved lanes". Passed the tests with flying colors. Still got a ticket for DWB. Charged me with "failure to maintain lane".
Needless to say I wasn't in the minority section of town. Ha! |

Back when I lived in Wisconsin (early 90's), a friend & I had gone to a concert several hours away. It was a rainy night and many of the low spots on the roads had turned into small lakes. Neither of us drank anything alcoholic all evening.
When we got back to town it was right at 2:00AM... the same time the bars close. On his way home my friend swerves to avoid a large puddle and gets pulled over. The cop gives him a full field sobriety test, which of course he passes. To this day I laugh about that cop pulling over the ONLY SOBER PERSON ON THE ROAD!! ![]() |

Nah, around here you practically have to drive your car into a tree or be black before you get stopped..seriously. Plus I never drink and drive, and I have no reason to swerve while I'm driving-if a skunk gets in my way it's lights out! |

Nah uncledaddy. I've done the illegal.
Luckily the officer saw my college ID and allowed me to go the next mile to my house. He told me " I'm making a U-Turn up here. If I come down this road and see your car ,that means you lied to me and are going to jail". Sir yes sir, I was home in 5 minutes. |

Never had a DWI or DUI. StL is an easy place to get caught because cabs are too expensive and housing to spread out to be an effective alternative.

I use the golden rule of 1 beer's worth of alcohol oxidized over 1 hour. So if I have 3 beers, my BAC will be around 0.075 give or take, but it's very close to the 0.08 limit, so I wait to drive. And before that, I pop some water to alert my body. I don't feel comfortable having more than 1 beer's worth active in me and driving.
I don't know about you guys, but I am at a greater risk waking up early for work some days when I'm underslept and start driving. If you compared reaction times of me then versus after a couple of beers (but within legal limit), I'd probably fare worse on some early morning drives.

Yeah, 25 (+/-) years ago. I was a doorman/bouncer in a nightclub at the time. The night-shift cop didn't recognize my car, but he walked up to the window and said "Oh, it's you. Go the hell home, and don't hit anything on the way..."
This was the same (now defunct) nightclub where the Dave Matthews Band later got their start (which happened after I worked there). I know all of the band, and have been served whiskey by Dave personally. He used to bartend at a place other service people used to frequent on their nights off. I haven't deliberately quit drinking here of late, but I drink so little any more you could just about say that I am a teetotaller. I just don't have the time to.
