I would imagine the Cobalt's Passlock anti-theft system plus the CAN network communications architecture would present major challenges.
Does it have factory remote start? Was GReddy tech support any help?

2005 used CAN? I thought they still ran OBDII through 2006-07 on all GMs? Or is it OBDII with CAN?

It is either CAN (actually, GMLAN) or J1850, and they're both OBD II systems - it doesn't really matter as the only real difference between the two is the communications bitrate. My eSI disc is at work... The fact remains that there's a controller network which must be reckoned with if one were to install a device that allows the engine to run for a period of time after the ignition key is turned off / removed. Making this happen will take some creative engineering along with a good understanding of module and network operation. |
