i know for me and the wife it has. just last night we were asked if we be interested in going to Munising ,Michigan for a week, with the wifes sister & brother in-law. but with the price of gas. we decided to pass this year. its like 375 miles each way and gas going to be maybe around $5 gallon we said sorry. figure it cost us like $150 just for fuel .then theres hotel, meals ,extra spending cost. was easy to figure we might be talking $600.-$1000 for the week. plus i know we will rent a pontoon boat for a day. can't go up there with out looking at picture rocks national lakeshore without doing this it's a must see!
so we figure we just do some local getaways this summer with the price of GAS. it just cost us like $250 to drive the inlaws car back to michigan one way from Clearwater ,Florida last week. and gas was as low as $3.65 to $3.95 gallon on are way up I-75 .

Yup, we're passing on going to a graduation party in Pittsburgh because of the cost. A few years ago we wouldn't have even thought twice about it.

I recently took a Memorial weekend drive to N. Cal with 6 people in a Chevy van that did 19.6 mpg. with an avg. gas price about $4.09.
I think we covered about 1,200 miles and I drove with a steady foot doing about 75mph. Specs of the rental van Fuel Tank Capacity: 20 gal. EPA Mileage Estimates: (City/Highway) Automatic: : 16 mpg / 23 mpg Range in Miles: (City/Highway) Automatic: 320 mi. / 460 mi.

I drove down to SD in my gas guzzling G. So nope, it didn't really slow me down since it was a short drive. I probably spent more on food than I did on gas.

It hasn't stopped me. While I cringe every time I fill my gas up it hasn't made me stop going places. I'm not sure what point I'd give up going to places either. It sucks but really what can I do?
I just hope this changes soon because if the cost of gas causes people to stay home more its only going to sink our economy further into a recession. I just have a hard time believing that our "Wonderful" president is doing everything he can with the price of gas and really the price of everything. Can he make our economy any worse? Sorry had to vent that...but yeah just be glad we aren't in Europe, they are paying 10.00 a gallon. ugh this is ridiculous
