Oh.... I thought you meant the electric/gas hybrids like the Honda Insight. But you're talking motor hybrids.

Uh... I don't really consider an integ with a type r engine a hybrid since you can get one... dunno, maybe it's just me.

At the end of the day though, it's still a Civic/Integra with a Prelude engine in it. Why bother with all that mess when you can just buy a better car with the money?

Some people like tinkering with things like their cars.

Some are done pretty well. Apparently, prelude engines in civics don't work as well as integra engines in civics. FD3S in a miata works pretty well. I wouldn't mind the JZA80 in a manual tranny IS300.

I don't think that the 13B (or 13BREW) is really used for Miata transplants... Of course, it has been done, but given that the 5.0 Rustang engine drops in nicely, those opting for big straight-line power tend to go for that. The "Monster Miata". Add a supercharger and you've got the "Mega-Monster Miata". Unfortunately, it really throws off the weight balance of the car and any normal Miata can take you around the track.

Those who are more interested in the high-revving action and the stock engine tend to stay with turbochargers or superchargers (like the ever-popular Jackson Racing one)....

Now, if you wanna talk rotaries... the 20B 3-rotor into an FD.... that's what I'm talkin' about...

Nothin' really goes in place of the MR2 engine does it, Apex? Now that bugger is in a weird, unreachable place...

The 13B works ok for the miata while keeping the weight distribution. Unfortunately, I can't stand miata's. That's just personal preference though.

20B's not bad at all. Expensive as hell though. Petit still around?

Yeah, Petit is still around. The 20B conversion, I think, is 25-30k! Although they're well publicized for doing it here in the States, a lot of smaller tuners have tackled the task as well... in Japan, they're everywhere. The new RX-7 HyperRev that just came out has a blue FD that is a triple rotor, triple turbo. It's crazed. If I could find it on the web, I'd post a picture of it. Maybe I'll scan it (or get Leon to do it) if you're interested.

I can't stand the old Miatas but the new ones are kinda... cute. Heh. Of course, there was this one time that this lady pulls up while I'm washing my RX-7 and rolls down the window to her Miata. "Hey! Is that the new Miata?"

She almost got a bucketful of water hurled in her direction.
