Maybe Furd treats the Europeans better than the Americans....

or

Maybe the Europeans expect to get crapped on... and take it in willingly?

Either way, there might be a difference between the offerings they provide to us versus them.

I think it's because their marketers made a mistake. The reason why the globally loved Mondeo is not in the US is because the US market already has a car in that market - the Fusion, which Ford made a huge deal when launching it in 2005-2006 to the point where they tried to establish the Fusion's grill as an identity marker. I have heard that they're going to bring the Mondeo back to the US in a couple of years.

Top Gear also tested and loved the Fiesta - they said that all of Ford's cars are great drivers' cars. That was totally stunning to me because I think they try to prop themselves differently in the US (do we even have the Fiesta here?)

The Fiesta will be the first jointly (Ford US and Ford Europe) designed Ford. Even still it is mostly designed by Ford Europe. The Focus will be the next and it will be closer to a 50/50 design compared to the Fiesta. I hear the Fiesta is going to be a kick arse car. Too bad I am not in the market for that type of car or I would look at buying one.

I do not think the Mondeo and the Fusion are the same car. Ford Europe and Ford US have had different design teams for a long time. They have tried to collaborate in the past but until the recent financial problems Ford has had they could not sit down and work together.
