Unhappy

And once again my wonderful '85 Porsche is having power problems. I replaced the very dead battery two days ago, drove the car around for a while, got up yesterday to go somewhere, and the BRAND NEW BATTERY was completely drained. So if anyone has any advice or ideas as to what could be draining the battery so quickly, I'd love to hear them.

* My security system (an old-ass Alpine 8025A) is one possible culprit. I'm working on getting that inspected.

Two things come to mind (general classes though, I didn't get much info about your problem)...

1. You've got a short. You probably have already figured this. Depends on if the battery drains while your car is just sitting there. If it does, you probably have some sort of short somewhere and have got to track it down to fix the problem. I'm no Porsche expert so I'll leave it at that.

2. Your alternator's busted. If you drove around for quite a while, you engine may be usin' up your battery if it wasn't getting recharged by the alternator. This would most likely cause your car to die in the middle of the road rather than not being able to start in the morning after running fine the day before but it could be a possibility.

This probably didn't help much. Sorry...

That's okay - I probably should have posted this in rants, since it was really more of a general complaint than a request for help. I'm sure it is a short, because I had my alternator checked out a few weeks ago and it was functioning fine. So today I get to go through with my multimeter and check out every circuit in my bloody car. Fun fun fun.
