Stick shift cars
I am in the market for an '85 to '03 Mustang. I may go the stick shift route. I have noticed that some of the Mustangs on CL with sticks get posted and reposted.
Are they hard to sell? I don't want to buy one and then have a hard time trying to resell it in a few years. |

Sticks are harder to sell. Usually you can get one for significantly less than what an auto would sell for. For example, I am looking for an 02-05 Civic EX. An 02 Ex w/ auto trans usually advertised for $7000 or above with under 100k miles and the vehicle is on CL for maybe a week. The same car with same mileage and a M/T goes for about $5.5k or less and they are advertised on CL for weeks, sometimes 6-8 weeks, on end.

Sticks are harder to sell, but I'd rather have a stick mustang than auto simply because that transmission most likely won't hold up well.
In this economy, you show up with cash and can get smoking deals on tons of things. Especially on things people don't use... An old car, a boat, mountain bikes, sports equipment, etc.

I'd imagine places like detroit would have some good deals on old fords, etc. Better investments imo are old Japanese steel. You will appreciate the engineering and capability of certain old j cars. Do some research and see why it's harder and harder to find cosmos, mazda rotaries like the r100, 510's, etc. The key is find one in original factory condition so there is less to restore. |
