Unhappy Bugatti Veyron driven into lagoon

Quote:
Oops: Bugatti Veyron driven into lagoon in freak accident
Bad news for owners of the Bugatti Veyron, one of the world's most expensive and fastest cars. They don't float.

A Lufkin, Texas, man found out the hard way this week when he accidentally drove his $2-million sports car into a saltwater lagoon near Galveston, reports Chris Paschenko of the Galveston County Daily News. Our favorite part: the driver said he was distracted by "a low-flying pelican."

When the Veyron went in the water, the motor continued to run for about 15 minutes before finally giving out. That's $2 million of ruggedness right there. Maybe the salt water worked its corrosive magic by then. The Daily News said:

The man jerked the wheel, dropped his cell phone, and the car’s front tire left the frontage road and entered a muddy patch, which foiled his attempt to maneuver away from the lagoon.

We're just sure the guy, who wouldn't give his name to the reporter, wasn't driving too fast in a car capable of more than 200 miles per hour. Banish the thought.

This almost makes me want to cry. What a waste of a great car! This dude is such an idiot and I ain't buying his version of the accident.

I would think you should turn off the engine as soon as the car goes in the water and hope that the water doesn't get in the engine at all rather than keep it running...

That was a great video! Amazing it was captured by someone. I wonder if the dude's insurance is going to see that clip.
