Changing the Oil.

So when I'm at home I either change the oil myself or take my car to our trusted family mechanic. But since I'm at school,I don't have a garage of my own. Where do y'all recommend taking my car? Dealer? Jiffy Lube? BTW, I have an '89 Volvo 740GL wagon.

whoever is reputable and has a good price. ive know of shops which advertise they use a certain type of oil, but they actually use a lesser grade recycled oil. and these are big chain oil changers, but it depends on the individual shop, not the chain.

yeah. they use the real oil and they did what they said. I watched from outside the garage. they tried to get me to pay $70 to have them flush my engine with GumOut, but I didn't bite on that. I probably won't go back their because my friend knows a mechanic near campus that changes the oil for $15. that's half the price of Jiffy Lube.

yeah avoid J/L they always try to sell u crap that your car does not need. I brought my car to them to change oil they highly recommend me to flush my system out.. they told me that the oil is comming out dark and whole bunch of crap. I normally change the oil myself ( i was lazy) so i know the car is fine. dont trust them
