Help, Where do I buy tinting film?

any recommendations on where to get a good buy on Limousine Tint?

Im placing this in the Automobile forum because it is usually used on a Automobile. But I want to put it on my kitchen window! I have a bird feeder right outside and it scares the bird when I walk by in the kitchen. I want a tint so that I can see them, but they cannot see me.

Any recommendations on how to do this appreciated!

If it's a double pane, i.e insulated glass, there are only certain window films you can use on them. And I am not sure which brands are approved. The reason is that the heat can get caught within the film and cause excessive temperatures causing breakage of the glass. At least, I believe thats the reasoning. Check a large local auto parts store. They should have it. But read the instructions to see if it is approved for double pane glass.

I don't know about that heat explanation. it sounds a little fishy to me since the film is this nad can conduct heat. but hey, you probably know more than I do about this one.

HOME DEPOT!!! they have a big selection of window tints for your house, all the tools to properly install it and lots of help. you may want something along the lines of a mirror tint so it wont look funny on your house.

Is it a pain?

I looked at Home Depot, they want almost $29 for 3'x3' piece. A bit pricey since I dont need anywhere near that much. And I want to be positive it will work before I spend that much.

Not only a pain, but it looks real crappy since it starts to bubble and crap. IMHO if you can't afford to get the real stuff, its not worth it. But thats just me I guess. If you like it, then do it. Don't listen to me ever.

it's a pain cause you have to get the bubbles out (which if you dont it looks like crap) you will need a heat gun and a lot of time if you do decide to install it yourself (or sucker some friends to help out)
oh yeah dont forget to clean your windows before installing

ive used Gila brand tint from home depot where i got enough tint for 3 5x3 windows for about 15 bucks. plus tools and solvents and all that for about 10 bucks. i got a mirror tint to keep my room cool in the evening because the sun goes down on my side of the house and makes my room super hot in the summer and keeps my room warm in the winter. i did it with 2 friends because its hard to keep the stuff straight by your self. make sure you clean the window completely including all the edges or the tint will not stick properly. then either buy a tint adhesive (which is pretty much an alcohol and water mixture) or mix some alcohol with water (i dont know what the mixture is, but if the tint manufacturer approves of this method, they will tell you how much to mix) and spray it on the window before applying the tint. then you need a sqeegie or a hard roller to get ALL the bubbles out. its not really that hard and its much easier than for a car window because you dont have to deal with such a cramped space, cruved surfaces and awkward window shapes.
