In Dash MP3 CD-Player - Anybody have one, recommend one?
I'm looking for a Single DIN (normal height) in dash Mp3 cdplayer for my car. I have been an Alpine kind of guy, but their's is $750!!! I would like it to be somewhat high end and not all bright, flashey and visually bright like a lot of new cd-players are. i.e. no dolphins jumping around, colors inverting, blah blah as my music plays.
I am just looking for suggestions and recommendations. Thanks, Shoe

Sorry to say, I think you're SOL if you're going to try and skip the jumping dolphins, fighter jets, or wheel of fortune. That said, I have yet to be real impressed with the in dash MP3 players out there. They all have information problems. My buddy has the Alpine deck, and it doesn't even tell you what the folder names are (either that, or it's so unintuitive that he can't figure out how to get the thing to do it). He basically has to memorize what's on the disk in order to find a song. I dunno. That's my experience with in dash's. I hope someone proves me wrong. My solution's going to be just a laptop, an inertial mouse, and my LCD display. I think it would be a lot easier to use. |

the jvc does a good job with information display...even gives you tips in the manual on folder/song naming. can skip through the disc by folder or by song. and for under 350, it's a good buy until something better comes along. but, if you have the know-how and time...a laptop, lcd and some internal mouse action would own. i took the easy way out... |

I played with the low end Rockford 9000 today at one of the local dealers. Very nice. I found the 9300 for $290 shipped, so I'm going to have to go for that.
Thanks people. Shoe |

I rather liked my Kenwood MP8017, before it was stolen. Got it for ~$250 (S/H included) on the web. The functions/displays are not exactly intuitive, but I don't have any complaints.
