What is the fastest you have ever gone?

Not a thread for bragging. Just wondering.

Residential: 70
Regular street: 90 (el camino real)
Freeway: 95

Of course, I only speed when it's safe.

Residential : the posted speed limit, i saw a kid on a bike get hit, so now i always go the speed, maybe slower.

Street: maybe 15+ over the limit

Freeway/Highway: 120, i hit my limiter (my old car), in my current car, 115 cause it feels funny after hitting 100...so no more of that...

hmm...you're int he bay area too eh? nice...

Heh, I've done 100+ with the LX470, Suburban, and the Blazer. Does get kinda scary when ya actually need to stop!

Highest in residential: 75 going uphill (thank goodness the one time i got caught doing it, the cop let me off )
Highest on highway: Usually going up to or down from Davis on Highway 80, 125mph when its like 2-4am. Thats my limiter on my Maxima. Dont usually do it as much on 280 or 101.

Residential - 30/35 tops (again, i think that going beyond that in residential is insane. It won't be so funny when you kill someone)

Street - 5 to 10 over speed limit

City Freeway - 70 to 90 (but mostly around 70)

2 Lane Highway (ie to Vegas) - 125 limited by governor.

I once kicked it up to 110mph when my car was only a couple of months old. Wanted to see what it could do. She had more to give but realized just how expensive that ticket would have been so I backed off.

135-140 on my CBR 600 F2... 85/90 in a secluded residential area.

took my car up to 125... kinda hits a limit up there i think.

I've gotten a ticket in Kansas on the highway doing 106 in a 70.. cost $135, and didnt show up on my record for a full year.

i rutienly merg onto a 65mph highway doing 85mph (in the car), and sometimes 100+ on the bike... that way i get too choose to merge into the pocket in front of a car, instead of coming to a full stop waiting for another opening to fly past...

whatever the limiter is set on a 99 jetta...i think it was 117-120.

as for residential areas...i tend to keep it close to the speed limit...

i've gone much faster as a passenger...i'd estimate 125-135 in a pontiac GTO...120-125 in a dodge conquest (mitsubishi starion).

Residential/Street: 100 (Area is residential but there is a nice long straight away and it was 11:50pm so there was no traffic, I used to frequent the back roads where there was less traffic. Whenever I went that fast it was only when I was sure it was safe...only thing to worry about were whitetails.)

Highway: 120+ (I-75 between Sarasota/Long Boat Key and Gainesville going head to head with a Cobra, we started at 50 the guy just kept trying to show me what his car could do and I just kept pushing back....Once I realized how fast I was going, I slowed down to a respectable speed to avoid a ticket)

All the cars that I would be comfortable taking higher than that speed, cost too much money for me to chance a wreck in. I dont feel like having to repair a 500SL for a few minutes of speed that ends in disaster and my fiance gets freaked out when I take her BMW up to the 100 mark, so I havent had a chance to do it yet.

That said, when my father got his 500SL way back when he decided to see what his car was capable of doing. Apparently he decided to take it up to speed on Broad Street in Philly and hit the inhibitor at 135. Then again, if he totaled his car, he would have just bought another one.

115 on the highway in the middle of nowhere, i have no idea where i was (it was when i was driving cross country) in my vw cabriolet...

it might have been able to go faster, but being that it was an old car, and i needed to still get to california and then back to nj with it, i decided to slow down a bit.

on a similar note, we made it from san fran to delaware in 2.5 days... which means we averaged 70mph... even when we were stopped.

get your own uncle

recently flound out the card is better then i origionally thought.

apparently he was in the "major case squad" which is one of the higest levels of detective (me thinks).

plus he's retired, which is another plus...means to the cop that he either put in his time...or got injured

hmmm.....i haven't set any personal speed records in awhile....but back when i was young and stupid (ie: high school, first year of college):

in town, residential (i'm talking 25-35 speed limit): 65 or 70 (once again, i was young and stupid. i realize the risk now, but at the time it made so much sense )
on country roads: probably ~100
freeway: ~130 (i had a 1990 ford probe, 4 cyl, no mods. judging by the tach, which ran at about 2500 at 65, when i topped 5000 and the limiter kicked in, i was going around 130. i drove about 25 miles on the highway bouncing the car off the limiter. incredibly stupid, i know. if i had gotten caught, my ass would have been fried, and if i had gotten in an accident, i would have been a goner. but i was in a hurry yeah, i was a smart kid).

now, i usually run at no more than 10 over around town and usually cruise at 80 to 90 on the freeway, depending on how fast traffic is moving.

For those of you who don't know the risks of driving fast...read up.

My personal favorite:

Oregon - Embracing while driving is illegal.

Highway ~125mph (the limiter on the Hyundai Sonata GLS V6)/~120mph ('97 Honda Civic DX downhill I-10 near Pomona)

Local 85+mph in a old GMC Safari (Minivan). I loved that car, a lot of extra power to spin the wheels and able to get it to fishtail at intersections. I loved scaring people leaving my high school lot. Now I've calmed down on the fooling around, but I still speed like a demon.
