Car electronics installation and my new car =)

$15,800 drive out price for a 2002 Honda Civic LX. Includes tax, title, and dealer fees. Dealer add ons like floormats and tinted windows included. Good or bad?

I want to get keyless entry on my car, but not through the dealer (they quoted a price of $300). Where can I get a keyless entry set for cheap? Where can I get it installed since I doubt I can install it (even though I am a CompE major).

Also, this question follows from the previous, but how hard is it to install electronic stuff into a car? I'm talking about keyless entry, security system (cd player, mp3 player, etc.) I can put together a computer, but I'm not sure what I can do with car electronics. Any advice or help?

Most of the current alarms will allow you to add the keyless entry feature. If you want a pretty tricked out alarm, go for the Viper 550 ESP. It's the same alarm that I have in my 99 Accord and DarkFury has in his truck. It does window roll up/down, remote start, and all the goodies. It's a bit pricy though... I think mine was around $400 installed. As for installing a CD player, that should be pretty easy. You just need the proper tools and a harness. Installing a keyless entry or alarm system, is a bit more tricky. I'd leave that up to a professional just in case you run into some electrical trouble down the road.

I have some friends that own car audio shops so they'll do me a favor and hook me up when they can. I think www.rollhard.com had an alarm that was pretty good for a decent price.

If you were in the So. Cal. area, I would have some local shops to refer you to. However, I don't have very many connections on the East Coast for these type of products. Can anyone on the East side help gear02 out?
