Video of my stang in action
The other car is a lightly modded (more boost, intake) 2002 WRX, manual tranny. 7200ft above sea level, I only grabbed 50-75% throttle in first and it seemed to work pretty good. Second gear its mashed, I backed out at 120mph or so.
Enjoy: http://w3.uwyo.edu/~jschuh/stangwrx.WMV Just got the firewire DV camera and somebody who wouldn't get sick looking through the camera and being pressed into their seat at the same time... So more to come! Another one, GREAT footage. 5800ft above sea level (take .9 seconds off to consider in the elevation). In the other lane was a supercharged SSEI pontiac boniville. http://w3.uwyo.edu/~jschuh/bestrun.WMV New best run: (12.98 @ 108.9mph) http://w3.uwyo.edu/~jschuh/bestrun15-256k.WMV

I showed the video guy the tape, he knows what to do next time.
As for the slower car thing, he thought he could get me off the line with his awd so I gave him some. Last edited by shoeish : 05-05-2002 at 06:42 PM. |

Those pics are from when I bought the car. I have a Rockford RFX-9300 MP3 player, a rockford 40x2 (old school) amp running a set of JL XL series 6.5 components, a rockford 225.2 running an 8" square kicker.
6x9's coming soon, but first more boost. ![]() |

Remember, this is at a hell of an elevation. Correction factors say it was a 12.3sec run @ 117mph. Someday, when I learn how to launch (I tried everything that day), I'll dip into the 12's at this elevation. |

Yep. It is in the current Motor Trend. They race a Blue Angel F/A-18. The Corvette won by a big margin, but, then... a jet's strength is in the air. ![]() Here is a scan the specs for both contenders (Click on it for the large and much more legible version). The person who wrote the article got to fly in the jet so, check out what I circled in yellow, it's kinda funny. ![]() FAST VETTE 0-60 1.97Sec!!! 1/4 mile 9.24@150.27!!! That 1.97sec was on cheater slicks, NOT normal tires.
Went street racing tonight. A few people raced but no one wanted any piece of me so I made a solo run down our stretch of road. Did a 10-12 second burnout on the nittos (a good one, not the pansy assed ones i've done in the past), took off at my normal 2000rpm (expecting to spin) and it hooked, HARD. I stopped, backed up, took off from 3500rpm (clutch dump), and again the nittos took it and I shot out of there like nothing. Powershifted to second, no spin. Nothing like coming off the line under boost and not spinning too much. Going to the strip next wednesday with my new found knowledge (nittos need a TON of heat). Hopefully I'll be able to tear off a mid -> high 12 with my improved 60' times. |

Ya, I guess that should be mentioned seeing as how it is not shown in that scan. Never a bad thing to get rid of all your bottlenecks, so to say, that will hinder your times. If it will help you go faster (especially if you are using them just to race), then I say, bring it on. What do you suppose would be the time on normal tires? I do not have the knowledge of just how much the slicks help. |

To stick to the pavement like they are supposed to, so you don't spin coming off the line. Quote:
I don't have slicks as good as the ones they used on the corvette, and mine are the difference between spinning through first and second gear (up to 70mph) and letting me launch at 3500rpm and NOT spin. A guy at the track with the et streets (same as they used on the 427TT) pulled his front tires off the ground they hooked so well. Quote:
Love it, except the track up and track down buttons are so small and right next to the volume knob. It sounds good, its clean, and mp3's sound pretty decent. |

I am amazed that your 5 speed is holding up. A friend of mine has an 88 with probably 350 HP, and is worried that if he adds more mods that his trans will blow. He said that the tire slippage that he has right now is probably saving the trans.
I know you said that your trans has been modified, but how will it take it with tires that stck like crazy at the starting line? |

At this elevation, I am only making an actual 360hp with my modified transmission, so I should be fine as long as I'm not TOO hard on it. |
