well the vwvortex.com forums rumor mill seems to think differently. i highly doubt this car will ever see US soil...even if it does, it's gonna be 30k+

i can't see typical americans paying 30k for a hatchback...

i would...but who am i?

No matter what it has, no Golf will ever be bada$$. I'd rather die than buy and mack out a hatch back then drive it around trying to look cool.

well, i think it all comes down to personal taste. i mean in most european nations, a hatchback is considered sporty...whereas most typical civic-esque non-hatch's are looked at like old-folks' cars. i prefer the lines of a hatchback...and therefore this car excites me.

i love it like charmin loves ex-lax

it's frikkin amazing, fast, handles like a dream and it's SOLID. i drove a STi and EVO before buying it, just to make sure [if anyone knows me from the old days here, i'm diehard VW] and it feels like a $30k car should.

since it's on winter wheels/tires now, i'm appreciating [and missing] how great it handles so much more now that the 18" rubber is chillin in the garage.

my only gripe is the gas mileage...20mpg if i'm lucky..usually about 18mpg. but hey, that's not bad for AWD and 3.2L 6cyl.

you liked it more than the STi? i've been thinking about snagging one of those in the near future and i need awd for where i live.

the STi doesn't seem luxurious enough for $30k imho so i'm still looking for other options.

real nice car aglio412. it is a bit pricey though. and 18 MPG, dang, that was like my F-150. i've become a huge fan of hatchbacks since owning my Matrix. Now if only the made and AWD, 6 spd, 200+ horsepower version of the Matrix for a reasonable price...

Cool car and I have no doubt that it's fast but with $30K+, I would get entry level luxury car.

Johnny, I KNEW there was something else I liked about you...

We are both Virginians by birth, gearheads and old guys.

One of my favorite drives (besides the Skyline Drive itself) is to leave Charlottesville headed north, cut across Madison County past Graves Mountain Lodge into Sperryville, and then take the back way into Front Royal from there. I don't have a map in front of me to give you all the route numbers, but I could drive it blindfolded.

I love that area. Never lived up there, but I had two road jobs in the past where I worked that area.

Yes, I am proud to say I come from Virginia. When I left there in 1962, the people were fairly friendly and the pace was incredibly slow.

But I have been there a few times since then, and unfortunately things are not the same way. I don't miss that area as much as I once did. But it is still a very beautiful part of America.

My 6000 pound AWD V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets that. That's horrible for such a small car.
