Car Speaker problem- Help anyone

Ok so my sisters front door speakers are sort of busted. She took it into a shop for some engine repairs and the a-holes there apparently played the system too loud when they weren't even supposed to be messing with the radio and denied touching it. Anyways, when you turn the bass up too loud, the front speakers rattle. I took the plastic cover off and inspected the rubber diaphram that's supposed to move in and out as the air goes through the bass. The diaphram has apparantly broke loose and extends too far out when the bass hits causing it too rattle. I figured I could brace it with something. Any ideas? Would I need to take the speaker apart? Thanks

That is what I feared Burz, but there is a thin wafer that is funnel shaped in the center of the speaker and if I grasp each side of it with my fingers, the rattling stops and the speaker sounds perfect. I'm thinking if I can duplicate that with some kind of material, than it would hold and stop the rattling. It needs reinforcement, but maybe I'm just being stubborn and it needs replacing. I would just like to try and fix it if I can since it's my sisters car and I'd like to do the favor for her.

go to www.crutchfield.com, it'll tell you exactly what will fit in your car and where. their prices aren't that great, so you might just want to get some model numbers and do some searching

Yeah, I love Crutchfield. I subscribed to it. Used to flip through it and drool over all of the products...

Their prices are resonable and they have the same prices as Crutchfield has...

i'd doit myself

If ur cheap/broke like me, Half.com for some "like new" speakers. better sound and quality than some fixed stock ones.
