loan for a new car

Hi, I was wondering if anybody ever gotten a loan online for a used car? Only place I know is at www.peoplefirst.com. I'm wanna either get a loan for a used car for either dealer or private seller. Does anybody know a better place?
The car I'm trying to get is Honda Civic with automatic and less than 100,000 miles. Last option would be a Toyota maybe Camry or Corolla. And hopefully monthly payments of 250-300.
I only have a total of about 3 grand atleast now for downpayment.
Any helps, comments or anything would be great.

Also, how many applications should I apply, for decisions, in a month so my rates won't go high? Because I heard it is not good if you apply for a lot of applications.
