so i was doing some highway stoppies lastnight...

and well, they just werent working. The damn front tire was just locking up and skidding, and at about 70mph, thats a scarry thing...

well, later on that evening, were sittin around, and i looked over at my front tire, and saw about 8 or 10 deep grooves going aroudn the tire about 10 to 12", and another spot about 4" worth.

i swear, it looked like one of those ribbed sand? tires on the front of a 4-wheeler or dune buggy or something.

apparently the road i was trying to do stoppies on was rougher than i thought.

ouch

I'll try to get a pic later today.

I couldn't get a stoppie out of my heavy yamaha, either.

I had to barely touch the front brake, let off, then grab it again. The little bounce helped the rear get up instead of the tire locking.

The F4i stoppies without a problem. Probably the fact that it's 70lbs lighter than my yamaha was.

dood - its a blast.

its pushes the limits of balance, control, and guts

i mean, everyone can ride around on 2 wheels... its a little harder to ride around on one, on something that was built for maneuvering on 2 wheels...

man, sat night, we went out to teh same place - some church parking lot (freakin huge church). about 5 of us were making big runs back and forth pulling stoppies. I'm not that good yet - i can only roll one maybe 20' or so. BUT, i started pulling little stoppies on TOP of the tank, as well as wheelies on teh tank. Its a real bitch on teh landing though (ouch).

I actually felt more in control of my tank-wheelies than i do of my regular wheelies... something about having the weight up there - helps keep the front end down instead of feeling like its gonna flip back on me.

Well I only have a limited basis for my reasoning. I have only had a couple of times where I managed to get my truck up on two wheels (one side, not a wheelie grant you) but I remember sitting there cursing the fact that I no longer had four contact points. Maybe its the fact that you seem to feel in control, where as with my experiences I wasnt expecting it and did not feel in control.

well, my stoppies are pretty slow, and i come to a full stop when doing them... away from people or objects. If i have to, i can jump off pretty quick hehe.

nope - you just start little...

take it about 30mph, and gradually apply more and more brake untill you feel teh rearend lift off... if you get scared, just let the brake off and you're ok again.

same if you skid...

i've left 6 - 8' long skid marks... with my front tire

best to practice on a nice parking lot thats been freshly paved or concreeted, and provides grip. (not on that is all slick and crap.)
