door inserts
for lack of a better word...does anyone know where i can get the things on the side of my car (the black things that are supposed to block against other doors) in red? the black breaks the lines too much and makes it look stupid..red would look so much better. yes i know i could paint it but guess what painting costs lots of money and i didnt buy a spoiler or body kit yet so i mineaswell look for the red inserts

are you talking about the rubber trim that goes along the edge of your door?
i would try an auto body shop. usually your dealer sells them but at ridculous cost for painted ones. the body shop i took my old car to noticed i didn't have them when i took it in for work and they just slapped them on for me free of charge. |

looks like i misunderstood what you were talking about. no, that's not what i understood you wanted from your description, but i'd still probably ask a body shop to see if they can get it. body shops just order the parts usually from factory, but they 'll probably charge a lot less to paint it. hope that helps, good luck.

I've never seen the side molding in any color than black. I think your best bet is to buy a style that you like, in black, and paint it yourself (before you put it on the car) with some vinyl paint, and then put it on your car in place of what's on there now. Your biggest problem is going to be that red is hard to match exactly, and it may look "added on" if the color doesn't match. Places like JC Whitney or any local body shop should carry something you can use.
Another option may be to just remove it entirely. Most side molding on modern cars is just held on with some 3M type adhesive strip, unlike the old days of screwed-on molding, which left holes in the side of your car if removed... You may be able to see a difference in the paint under the molding, however, and it might not look good. Also, it would leave your car more vulnerable to door dings...and that's assuming that you managed to get it off without screwing up the paint in the process... Good luck with your project!

if the side pieces come off easily, you may be able to go to a junk yard and find it. i know civics have certain models and years with the side molding the same color as the body. other than that, i have no idea.

Buy some molding from an automotive shop and try to find some vinyl paint. It kinda soaks into the rubber and you might be able to match it that way.
Good luck, -jel ![]()
