Which way are your subs firing?

I just got new subs, and the installer (insurance work) has them firing backwards, in my Integra's hatchback.

So, which way do you have your subs firing?

what kind of box do you have. the direction of the sub depends on the box. sometimes it doesnt even matter

It's a cubic foot, with the sub facing ouwards, on a side, at at slight upwards angle, made of high-pressed particle board, carpetted. The sub is a 10" (700W) Xplode.

i have a 10" kenwood in my hatch firing forward. no problems with leaking or anything like that. I only went with a 350 watt amp because i prefer metal.

Pretty much... rear firing speakers will generally produce a deeper bass inside and outside of the car due to an increased distance that the "wave" has to travel to reach you... however front firing subs will give your passengers more "impact".

The only problem is.. in my car (my T-Bird) I don't have an opening behind the seats....so it doesn't make much sense to fire the subs directly into the padded seat backs.

DF can you post a picture of your system, i want to drop a box in my trunk i just want to see what it looks like

Furthermore, both of my subs are dual voice coiled... therefore I can plug in both of my amp leads to a single sub and hit almost as hard as when both subs play together (Man, my system is gonna spank some serious @ss if I ever decide to get a more powerful amp and run all 4 voice coils at the same time. )

daaamn... how much was all that?? $$$

Normally, these speakers cost around $300 each however I got the "hook up" on these.

Overall, I'd say that my entire car stereo is worth around 3 grand... although I didn't spend that all at once in getting it there... I've got alot of "carryover" parts from my previous car.

I really wanna see a picture

Too many times, I have seen people put way too much power to a speaker against the glass and then they either wonder why their hatchback leaks or why their glass broke (and soon to be replaced with plexiglas)

To clarify... My one subwoofer is mounted in between the rear speakers.

However, "advertising" your stuff (if it is visible from the outside) is another way that your rear windshield might get broken.

When I had a hatchback (my '89 Probe), there was a deck plate that covered the hatch, so pretty much nobody could see my speakers in the hatch.

It's not visible. It's all part of the OEM Bose system.

which ever way you can get the biggest difference in air pressure, your bass will be felt best.
you want the speaker to be able to push as much air as it can.
