so who drives a saturn?
do you or anyone you know drive a saturn? and if so, how was your buying experience? i'm only wondering cuz i'm thinking about applying to be a SATURN DEALER. now before you start flaming me about how crappy saturns are, let me just tell you that i'm applying not for the quality of the product but for the experience. i'm using this as a stepping stone for some bigger fish...

I used to own a 1998 Saturn SL2. I loved the car, and the buying experience was nice.
Was driving my Saturn out the door 2 hours after they drove it onto the lot.

I used to own a Saturn - it was a great little car. The buying experience was good - they have fantastic dealerships compared to other manufacturers. I would buy a Saturn again... I get a discount on GM vehicles and they're definitely the easiest division to deal with in terms of the purchase process & maintenance after the fact.

If you're a man you better have a good excuse for driving a Saturn. Much like a VW Beetle, but not quite that bad.

Nah, I disagree. Saturns are fairly unisex compared to the Beetle. I don't really care for Saturns much. My coworker has one. Its less than 2 years old and he's taken it in for major repairs a few times already. Rather disappointing. I hear the SUVs will start carrying Honda engines starting 2005. Hope that increases their reliability. |

My brother's g/f owns a 98 silver thing. She loves it. She is trying to get my brother to join her in the "Saturn Cult"
I know a few other people that own them also, and everyone single one of them absolutely loves their car. They loved the experience of buying their car. So i say, word up you, git yo's ![]() |

The only two Saturn dealerships I can remember off the top of my head are Saturn of Santa Clarita and Saturn of the Valley. Both of them are owned by the Galpin family. |

i have a saturn as well... a 2000 SL1 (super luxurious one). and its a great car. now don't get me wrong, its no audi or lexus, but for the price its fantastic. i've got almost 30K miles on it, and i've not had a single issue with it. and i know that isn't very much mileage, but i know many people who have had to have something reajusted on their brand new cars.
now the buying experience was good i guess... it would have been better if my salesgirl wasn't a total flake. but the financing guy was so awesome it make up for her lack of a brain. ![]()

i've always been extremely unimpressed with the saturns i've driven.
they're a nice-looking car, and they have tremendous marketing. however, reliability wise, they're just not that good. i've driven two as rentals and test-driven several used ones when i was looking for a car and they're all crap. the fit and finish on the interior is poor, they always have 2000 squeaks and rattles, and the linkage between the engine and transmission on the automatics is awful (you have to baby them when you push on the gas, or else they'll red-line but you won't speed up). plus they tend to start burning oil and then the engines go bad. but anyway cornmonkey, all that stuff doesn't matter. just sell some cars, work your way up, and before long you'll be a millionaire who owns like 20 dealerships. then you can give us all free cars ![]() and good luck with your job ![]() |
