Volvo S60/V70 "R"

These will probably be compared to the smaller M3 and S4 in the long term.

Look and drool

Notice how the brakes really fill out the wheel

Yes, but i like the following:

1-Brembo brakes
2- Ohlins designed fully active suspension and shock system (integrated with AWD, steering and brakes)
3- 300hp/295 lb ft. torque. Luckily it's lighter than the new S4
4-Haldex fully programmable AWD system.

What do you mean by "new" S4? I hope you're talking about the B5 platform S4 'cause the new B6 S4 isn't even out yet and when it comes out uhm it'll make the volvo quite humble, probably the M3 while its at it. It will be powered by a 4.2L V8 344bhp @ 7000 rpm/300 lb. ft @ 3500 rpm. Even though the engine is bigger it weighs about the same as the previous 2.7L V6 twin turbo. But I can't deny that the volvo will be a pretty sweet low key car. Still not diggin the waggon.

That's silly... why settle for that weak car when the RS 6 will be here soon?

Quote:
...the RS 6 quattro's 4.2-litre twin-turbo V8 develops 450 bhp and 413 lb ft of torque, enough to rush it from 0-62 mph in just 4.7 secs. ...the RS 6 has more power than Ferrari's F360 Modena, Aston Martin's DB7 Vantage, Maserati's V8 Coupe and even Porsche's outrageous 911 Turbo.

From http://www.audiworld.com/features/tests/2003rs6.html

Mmmmm.....

That's silly. Having too much HP is like having too big of a home theater.

Mmmmm.....
The RS6 probably costs $30K more than the S4 so you do the math. Sorry but I would take the S4 or M3 over Volvo anyday.

Volvo S60R
2.5 Liter Turbo I5
300hp/295lb.ft
6-Speed Manual Transmission
Haldex AWD
0-62 MPH 5.8 Seconds
Top Speed 250 km/h
Öhlins Racing AB Active Chassis System
Four-Piston Brembo Brakes

Audi S4
4.2 Liter N/A V8
343 hp/302lb.ft
6-Speed Manual Transmission
Quattro AWD
0-62 MPH 5.6 Seconds
Top Speed 250 km/h
Lightweight Aluminium Suspension

Humble? The guys who run vwvortex/audiworld/swedespeed wanna run a comparison between the two, and are excited about both of them.

It seems like the concensus is that the Volvo would be better around the corners and the track due to the slightly lighter weight and fully active chassis system.

Beat? Maybe......but humble? No way

btw: The volvo's peak torque hits at 1950....and then keeps it until almost redline. That's one of the reasons why Volvos have such fast 30-50mph, 50-70 mph, and trap speeds that are pretty darn good.

Hepls that they have turbos too

Yes it will be close but by humbling I meant with overall potential of the car, seeing as its a n/a engine, if you put in a twin turbo into that thing. . . weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee hehe. The volvo has a 2.5 l turbo already in it so it can only go so far but the s4 engine is freaking ungodly huge for its size class. On a side note, rumors are going around that the new S4 is going to be the new trend in Audi's sport line cars using n/a engines instead of turbos, guess they're gonna try to distinguish more between the "S" and "RS". . . which possibly could mean I could say "Got|RS4?" soon again hehehe. But yeah stock I wouldn't be suprised to see the volvo keep up with the S4, just that I'm a biased bastard and still hate volvo's exterior and interiors just me though.

i have *never* liked volvo styling! ugly, bland, lifeless, and more words come to mind when i see a volvo. Not saying i hate the powerplants these cars have because that would be dumb.
