Unhappy my baby is damaged

I was visiting a friend in CT today and I was about 500 feet from her apartment complex when another driver did a bonehead move and tried to pass me on the left in a no passing zone (one lane each direction) while I was turning left.

So now my poor car has a damaged driver's side front fender, front rim, front headlight, and bumper.

No one was hurt which is the most important thing, but dammit I take extra good care of my car and some moron has to do something like that. At least he got a ticket.

I'll post pictures later. Happened to have the digicam with me.

man, that sucks dude.

especially when it TOTALLY wasn't your fault.

even though it looks like it wasn't too serious of an accident, i'm sure the damage tally will be high because so many body panels were ruined

hope you can get it fixed quickly and that being without your car isn't too big of a hassle.

Damn that sucks man! I know how you feel but at least you have the other party to pay for your damage. My car got hit in the parking lot while I was in the store.

can't really tell from the picture, but it seems like your hood and left door are ok, which is fortunate. I think the front fender is one of the worst places to get an accident, cause it's so easy to tell when you sell the car.

Hopefully everything with the insurance will go smoothly. I had a similarly unlucky situation a few years back and that took a YEAR to straighten out. I won in the end, but it was rough going.

Yeah, it's just the fender, bumper, rim, and headlight. The headlight is only scratched and has paint on it, it's not cracked or anything. However, my baby had better be like new when I get it back!

The door doesn't open all the way because of the fender, and a little paint has come off the edge of the door. Some touch up should take care of that though so it doesn't rust. It shouldn't require a repaint. But I gotta make sure everything gets fixed properly. OEM parts are a must.

That totally sucks! Good thing that a-hole got a ticket for being an impatient prick and destroying someone's property as a result. I would have been extremely tempted to bust out the golf clubs from my trunk if someone did that to me. What kind of car were they driving? It should be a pretty cut and dry situation considering there must have been some police report if they were given a ticket and you had a camera to take photos immediately after.

Insurance will take care of everything, but it's still a pain to not have your car for several weeks while it gets fixed. The body shop will likely re-paint your whole door if there is some paint missing because it gives them more to over charge the insurance company for. My gf got rear ended recently and in addition to the bumper, there was a tiny scratch on the bottom edge of the trunk which easily could have been touched up, but the shop repainted the whole trunk lid. Talk about unneccessary, but I guess it's the proper way to make it look as new as possible.

First i wanna tell u that ur car is sexy, i want a white one. is it a type S? but anywho that guy is a complete idiot, and u deserve watevers coming to u.
When some guy reversed into my friends car, he made the guy pay for his rental car for week while it was in the shop. so maybe u should stop bumming rides and take advantage of that.

Luckily I have rental coverage on my insurance, so that was taken care of. Oh and yes it is a Type-S.

Well got the car back today. It looks perfect and drives wonderfully! I'm so glad to be back in it, my rental for the last 2+ weeks has been a Dodge Ram 1500 with a bed that I could probably have parked my car in. Not my kind of vehicle (my last car was a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP... so you can guess what kind of cars I like).

Also glad to report that the other guy's insurance company accepted the liability so everything there is taken care of at no cost to me. You'd be surprised, I was in an accident 5 or 6 years ago that was clearly the other driver's fault and it took almost a year of battling to get that one straightened out. But I won that one too.

See you on the road!

Paul

heres what you need to do - you can actually make this come out in your favor.. mostly.

take it to teh shop - ANYTHING that is scratched needs to be written up... i mean ANYTHING. Wheel, blinkers, headlight, door paint, dings, scratched mirror?, fenter, scratch on front bumper?, ANYTHING AT ALL...

it'll add up to some money...

then, dont fix the tiny things... maybe a littel scratch on the headlight, or mirror,.... put a little touch up paint on the edge of teh door...

get the major stuff fixed, and you may end up with $500 or more to pocket

Man hate to see things like that, but on a nicer note that is a very good graphic of what happened. You got skillz. At least from my perspective.
