That's how most people get killed by deer: when they go through the windshield.

Usually, that only happens in cars and lower vehicles, but in this case, it looks like the Durango hit it while it was in mid-air.

I've seen pictures like that of moose that were hit by cars in Alaska. It usually takes the whole roof off the vehicle, because the moose are so tall that the car drives right under them. Not to mention the fact that moose weigh from 1200 to 1500 lbs...and are dark and hard as hell to see at night.

Yeah, I'd definitely rather hit a deer than a moose. Aim for the corner!

Swedish car companies Saab and Volvo both do moose tests on their vehicles becuase of their car-vs.-heavy animal crashes that are common in northern europe.

They don't check for a license, but they also don't let you keep it.

It's a tie: Deer (1) vs. Dodge (1). Both are DOA even though the deer suffered more!

Ahhh... I was wondering why the front-end didn't have a scratch. That would explain a lot.

Geez if the deer wanted in the car, he should have knocked.

Around here there are accidents with deers all the time. Yet some groups don't want deer thinned out even when they are starving. Now there is something else being hunted around here-people.

talk about a time when it would have been nice for the airbag to go off. . .

dang...those guts are kinda nasty.
anyways...yeah, what the heck happened to the driver?
and if the guy was a male - I'm sure he didn't have fun having that antler being poked near his midsection...

and the deer was that depressed that it jumped?

sigh...the need for animal psychiatrists....only if health care was equally available for the animals living in the ghetto wild as it is for the rich animals living in the suburbs...

anyways...yeah, as for the airbag - errr, I guess it has to hit the front for it to go off?
kinda funny that the steering wheel is pretty much bent outta shape - so that if the airbag DID go off, it'll have hurt the driver even more.

airbag sensors are traditionally placed inside the front hood area of the car. side airbag sensors are placed around the side of the car. A hit from above like this wont trugger either of the sensor types because they are triggered when the sensor is penetrated/broke.
