Mercedes... and I have nothing to back that up with other than I like them better. I don't know why, but when I sit in a Mercedes, I feel like I'm sitting in a luxury car. When I sit in a Lexus, I feel like I'm sitting in an over-priced sedan.

GS430 is a better deal! It's slightly faster than the LS430 but cheaper. It's just as luxurious as the LS430 w/o some options.

I'm no smarty pants, but GS430 wasn't in the mix. I say go with the Benz, the look/feel/tightness of the Benz makes me happier.

I think the E320 is a total slug. If you're not into driving fast or havign quick acceleration, I think you would be happy with it. The new braking system is awesome. As for the LS430, I think it's more of an old person's car. It doesn't seem like those 2 cars are in the same price range. I think a more comparable set of cars would be the E500 and the LS430... In which case, the E500, hands down.

Definitely LS430. Why?

It offers luxury ride with less expansive price tag. It's more reliable than Mercedes. If you decide to modify your car, you would have a lot more options with LS430 than E-class.

Ask for a test drive for LS430, you would know the difference.

Some WORK 20" Euroline DH/D, Auto Couture bodykit, TOM'S cat-back, WALD supercharger (under development), TEIN FLEX, and you get yourself a RIDE.

I forgot to bring up one point. The acceleration of E-320 can't be compared with LS430. However, E-320 does offer a little bit toward "sporty".

Test drive both cars and drop by at some merc and lexus forums. Good luck finding your dream car.

make sure your dad goes for test drive first. he should drive it like he normally drives and make sure the sales person doesnt talk and try to distract him from the drive. if its a new one, i think the new LS looks like an old benz with new headlights.

My dad travels in germany alot, so I have a bias. But, if you've ever seen a 100+mph rollover, you might want to be a tad more conscience in choosing your car rather than based on mere "cost" or "reliability". What about you factor in the cost of a life.

After knowing quite a few people who have died gruesome deaths, my Personal preference is to have a car I can walk away from, be it working or crashed.

Mercedes Definitely.

oooooh, the mercedes is nice...
went to that mercedes e-class thing, the e-experience or whatever they called it...
if you can, get the e-class loaded up....(or just go for the e500 )

the distronic adaptive cruise control is a REALLY cool feature...
it can figure out the distance between the car in front of you, and maintain that while you're cruising. also, the dual control suspension is REALLY cool . some other cars have this (like my mom's continental), but the difference with the mercedes is a lot more when you change the suspension modes....

anyways...the new E has a lotta cool nifty options.
