For you arraignment you can usually delay the court date once or twice, just call in and tell them you want to schedule an appointment at a later date. Then call in later and postpone it some more. Finally when you plead guilty or not guilty and get a court date, try to call it and postpone it somemore. Try to have a valid reason (even if it is phony).

The easiest and best excuse for delaying a court date, is say that u need more time to find the right lawyer, or "assembling my legal staff." because u do have the right to an attorney. they cant say no to that.
