turbo computer chips?

or something....

How much difference do these make and how much do they go for usually? I know certain cars benefit from it more than others, but I'm pretty interested, cause it seems like a low hassle modification. I'm not thinking of any car in particular, but how would I know if a certain car can be modded with a chip?

You should consider if the mod will void your warranty....

Search the web generally. Many turbo cars gain 40-50hp just from a chip. The VW 1.8T engine benefits greatly, some of the models get 55hp from a chip. My VW got 47hp from the chip, I've since gone with a larger turbo and related programming.

The chip does not void your warranty. Only the the failure of the product can directly be attributed to the failure of the related part. So if the turbo fails when you are chipped, that is understandable. How is a manufactuer going to tell me that an engine chip caused my car to rust and therefor will not honor my warranty?

It is the Magnusson something or another act which states that. More information can be found on SEMA's site.

Oh I just presumed that his car already had a turbo. If so in most cases, manufactuer's use a lower boost pressure for long(er) term reliability. I'm not in the least bit concerned with the higher boost, VW builds bulletproof engines. THey started with ~0.6 bar and since increased to 0.8bar on the 1.8T which bumped the manufacturer's rated hp from 150 to 180.
