Smile Buying First Car!

I'm going to buy my first car that's going to have to last me through 4 years of college. Reliability is a big issue for me and here are the three cars I am considering so far:

1. 00' Honda Accord LX 4dr Automatic 54k - $10,700 (private)
2. 98' Acura Integra LS 2dr Manual 52k - $9969 (dealer)
3. 01' Honda Civic LX 2dr Manual 17k - $12000 (dealer)
4. 99' Honda Accord EX 2dr Automatic 46k - $12000 (dealer)
5. 99' Acura Integra LS 2dr Manual 44.5k - $11500 (dealer)

I'm trying to keep the price at or below $10k and at the same time still have a decent car that is fun to drive and that will last me for 4-5 more years.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

#3. That probably has the best chance of being problem-free.

I personallly have a 99 Grand Prix with about 110,000 on it. I can say one thing....it runs great, but with it's fair share of problems. Thankfully when I bought it used, the guy had bought the GM extended warranty because at just under 100k, I needed to have a bearing replaced....required them taking the engine out of the car, replacing the crank, a piston, the push rods, and a meriad of other parts. All in all it was almsot $3k in bills to the warranty company. I would have prefered to get a new engine installed for that price, but beggers can't be choosers.

Everything else runs great though. Good luck with your new wheels.

first, you're a college kid and college kids need 4 doors, easier to haul their friends (and laundry). two, automatics might be a little harder on gas, but they're tougher to get speeding tickets on streets around campuses with (can I get a witness?). three, 54k miles, you gotta do the timing chain on 1,2,4,&5 sooner than later, at least with #1, it's not a risk of spinning the motor before you replace the chain (read "belt"). four, RESALE VALUE. five, comfort, ingress and egress sucks the big one in coupes, they look cute, but really, do you think they're worth it?
five reasons you're really needing #1. thank you, drive through.

It's a good deal if the car is rust free.

My usual answer is get the fastest one, in this case it's #5. However you could probably get a better deal if you shopped around. Test drive a camaro or firbird, you have nothing to lose.

thats why i just cant stand american cars, they rust out like mad hell and they are always having problems, ive seen hondas with 300,000 miles on them and you just need to give them regular maitinence. have you seen some of the new american designs? they look like such crap. ok yes you can say the honda element looks bad but personnaly i think it looks cool. i dunno i just think non-american cars are better all around

I was gonna say, since when did a "chain" need to be replaced?
