Historical Car has to be under 1930?

My brotherinlaw gave me a 1979 MG Midget and he told me that i should check out historical car insurance. and so i did and found a company called hagarty. so i set everything up for the insurance and they sent me all the stuff i needed. anyways i went to the dmv and tryed to get a title change and register the car, but the lady said that they dont accept historical insurance for anything over 1930. she told me to go to the insurance company and have them take the historical off the insurance paper. if that was true how was the insurance company able to insure it under historical? does anyone have any insight on how they register these types of vehicles? also what should i do at this point, i wanna be able to register and get plates on the car asap.

thnx

historical???? WTF?

how about registering it as a classic, and getting insurance for it as a clasic.... i think you might find it to be different than "historical". The lady at teh DMV is such an asshoel that she didnt bother mentioning that historical and classic aren't the same, and that you MIGHT want classic instead.

Yeah, most states offer "classic" or "antique" car insurance, that's what we have on my dad's 67 camaro.....though, we keep the 27 chevy uninsured

Classic insurance

is what i have on my 67 GTO. But the car is registered just like a regular car. Getting your car title changed is a pain from what i heard. BUt the insurance for classic is more that the ins company knows your cars age, and that they have a deal that limits the amount of miles you put on it per year. That helps make the insurance amount less. But i dont know if you can pay less on the registration of the car. That just depreciates as the car gets older.
