Got | Hydro-lock?
OK, it is official I am a dumb@$$!!!
We had a flash flood in my area, there was a big puddle and so I took a side street, as I was turning off into he side street it was just as bad as the original puddle. I didn’t see it, it was a blind turn. Yuh so I thought maybe I just messed the electrical up... no, I filled the cylinders. Like full flooded. We took the plugs out and water was right there. I was for sure that my engine was a gonner. The car is fine, then engine just sucked up a crap load of water. Over all the damage is not too expensive. Price breakdown: $15 Dinner for my friend who went and got the trailer and brought my car to my friend’s shop in his truck on his gas. $5 Air filter $3 Oil Filter (just passed 3000 miles, needed to be changed) $10 Oil (just passed 3000 miles, needed to be changed) $2 PVC 90 degree elbow broke in fixing process It was a very cheap lesson compared to what it could be. Anyway back to the story. Once the 4 spark plugs were removed, we cranked the engine to get out all of the water. Once spark plugs were cleaned, we sprayed the inside cylinders Carb cleaner (not the best thing I know, but last ditch effort). Cranked the engine a couple more times to make sure most of the water was out. We put the plugs back in and reconnected the spark plug wires. We then turned the ignition over and we just sat there cranking and spraying starter fluid. It so did not want to start, then we started mashing the gas, she came back to life. Let her run a couple more min before we shut her down for the night. I am going back up to the shop tomorrow and changing the oil, putting new air filter on and then fixing the 90 degree elbow we broke. Hopefully she will continue to run until I can get my Z. Moral of story: If there is a flash flood in the area, just keep your car parked and do not go out. Unfortunately I didn’t know about the flash flood warning and I was in a hurry to go home. This could have been a $800 dollar lesson for me, thank goodness it wasn’t. ($800 because that it what the car is worth running, not because that is what an engine would of cost, I am refusing to put any more money into the car.)

Re: Got | Hydro-lock?
he said he had a PVC pipe for an intake.
Lesson number 2. Buy a bypass valve. It's a spongy thing that goes on closer to the engine to prevent the engine vacuum from sucking up water.

It is a stock intake, it jsut splashed a crap load of water, and that was that. Anyways as an update, I finally got the oil changed and filters changed and took her up to 85 mph no problem, however stopping was a whole nother issue, but after a couple hard stops I think everything will work out.
P.S. still working on getting that Z. |

It's a hollow sponge like material. There is no filter and it doesn't even change the air flow at all unless the CAI is fully submerged. |

For future reference..spraying carb cleaner into your cylinders is probably the LAST thing you would want to do. It's basically a solvent that "dissolves" oil and grease. You basically cleaned the oil off of your cylinder walls most likely causing some fiction damage when you cranked it. Squirting some oil probably would have been the better choice.

Yuh, sorry that was a typo, I was typing that late that night. It was WD in cylinders, starter fluid in intake, and carb cleaner on spark plugs to clean them. Got it all mixed up.
