Insurance Question

Ok, so I've never had insurance and I don't know crap about getting it, or inquiring about it. I've gone to some of the website advertised on tv, like progressive, mercury, 21st centruy etc. etc., but they all want me to put in information on the kind of car I drive.

Problem: I don't have a car. I want to get insurance on ME, so I can drive other people's cars until I get my own (mostly i wanna be able to drive my girlfriend's car, or my mom's car for moving purposes)

So what do I need to ask for?

Little help would be appreciated Thanks!

Just call them and find out. Although I suggest trying some of the other places, like State Farm and American Family.

So that means I have to talk to someone *shudder*. Most of the places want me to come in and talk with them, from what I hear of other people's insurance quest's.
edit
Oh yeah, about 4 years ago, i go pulled over for driving without insurance, I plead guilty and paid off the fine, will that effect my record, and should I tell them?

You are covered. In general, cars are covered not people. The other people's insurance must cover you but sometimes the coverage drops to liability only. Usually they can ask their i-company to upgrade the other people's coverage to the same level as theirs for a small fee. If your friend is a customer of 21st century, any licensed driver has the same coverage as that friend. There is one exception: if you live with that person you must be on the policy to be covered.

yeah, i don't know how my insurance is, just find out what your friends insurance covers ... if you're going to drive their car a lot, maybe have them add you.

Nobody wants to add me because they think it will hike their rates up.

And my g/f is on 21st century (i think) and I'm excluded from her coverage, and it lowered her rates..

well ... you said you wanted to go to insurance companies to cover yourself and you realize you'll have to pay money. convince your girlfriend to cover you and you'll pay the difference (maybe even a little more to be nice).

That probably will be the cheapest way to go. And for those other cars you drive they should be insured since as others are saying its the car that is insured usually.

i find it amazing that you've never had a car. i lived on a farm until i went to high school and owning a car was the a huge turning point in my, and my peers' life.

i sometimes wish i had all of the money i've spent on cars, gas, and insurance.

I didn't even learn how to drive until I was 18. I got my learner's permit at 19 and my drivers lisence 4 months later (everyone let me drive)

I never needed a car until I started working (ok.. and my bike got stolen)

Do you live with your gf? it is unusual to have her insurance exclude you unless you live with that person.
Anyway, I'd save up and get a car of your own, probably the best way to get around.

yes'm, we live together.

I want to get a car, but it's taking a while to get enought for a down payment and pay off all my debt (so i can jump right back into debt with the car)

I wanted to make it so I could have some insurance for a while so when i got a car of my own, the insurance would be too outrageous.

Pink - I still have it, it's in my mom's driveway, we've thought about reserrecting it a few times. Most recently this weekend. I looks like it's becoming my only viable option =\

Wait. if you have a car then you can get insured on that car and then you could be unrated on her policy and still be covered. Though it would probably be cheaper to have you rated on hers and pay the diffrence. With option number one though you'd build a certain reputation with the insurance companys. That is, when you change insurance companies they are going to want to see your own continuous coverage for the last 12 months or more.

I can't get insurance on the Mail jeep until it gets registered. It can't get registered until I fix it. I can't fix it until I have AT LEAST 3,000 bux. I need a new engine, new exhaust, new window, new tires, probably a new transmission. That's just the stuff off the top of my head, I'm sure there are a lot more too.
