I don't like pickups, but the new F150 totally deserves props.
HOw does it drive? Does it really have VW-esque interior quality? I sat in a new expedition once and I was totally floored on how damn nice the car was.

it drives FANTASTIC. they redesigned the suspension, the frame, and the engine. the coils are mounted outside of the frame so the ride is so smooth. it is the most comfortable ride i've ever had in a truck. the interior is nice and comfy too. i have a bad lower back, so i appreciate the lumbar controls. the inside of the cab is silent when you drive. and the cruise control, stereo, temperature, and fan controls on the wheel make driving it so easy. the boomin' stock system doesn't hurt either. they've made some serious progress in the truck world with this one.

Out of curiousity, how is the interior of the lariat? I went to look at one, which I was told they had in stock, and when I got there, they did not. When I bought my last F150 (2001) I couldnt seem to get a supercab lariat, even though they claimed to have them.
I looked at a fully loaded XLT (since they didnt have the Lariat) and comparing it to the last model, it felt less nice. The seats had less padding and were less comfortable.

I drove the new 04 FX4 with the new 3 valve 5.4 and it still didn't seem to have the power my 6.0L 3/4 ton chevy does. Same numbers (300hp/360ft/lbs).
The ford did have a REALLY solid interior and was every bit as quiet as my 03 chevy. What really suprised me is how quiet the ford was with the windows down at about 45mph. And the interior is just cooool. The hemi is an overrated piece of crap. Even with the 4.10's in the rear and the five speed auto, it didnt seem to have any power for the numbers they claim. I really had my heart set on the hemi until I drove it. BLEH Note: Things may be different at an elevation other than the 7200ft I drove all these trucks at. ![]()

Lariat interior is AWESOME. I love the controls on the steering wheel. Seats are oh so comfy. Back seat is big too. There is not much I would change on the interior except maybe get rid of the fake wood. It is kinda lame, but whatever. I can always change it out for $200 (like I would ever spend $200 on dashboard replacement component...sheesh).
Price. Sticker was $38,200. I paid $34,689. Out the door with taxes, title, registration (stupid ass Gray Davis tripling the vehicle license fee), LoJack, and extended warranty it came to $39,000. I am AAA member so no haggling on the price. It set me back a pretty penny, but well worth it. I am completetly satisfied. It needs some mods though. In order I plan to put in: -Line-X Spray in Bedliner -BedLocker Electric Retractable Tonneau cover (www.pace-edwards.com) -New Cat-back Exhaust (probably Magnaflow or Borla) -Lift (not sure if i'll go all the way or just put spacers up front) -New wheels -New tires (34.4") -Headers Most of this will have to wait since the aftermarket is not up to speed. There are a few things available, but I am going to wait for the good stuff. |

I saw the new F150 a few months ago at a Rod and Custom meet. It is nicely styled. Considering how ugly the competitor's trucks are, Ford will sell a ton of them.
Wake up, GM and Dodge!! |

Actually, a larger truck is the only thing I wouldn't want a manual tranny on. Of course, that is only because, if I needed to get a larger truck, I would actually be using it for towing, heavy loads, and things other than running to the grocery store. That type of work load tends to wear manual transmissions out more quickly.

The redesign on the front end two(?) years ago is horrible. It looks like the NTSHA used it to do their crash tests. I liked the one up until then. My brother-in-law has a 2001 which is very nice. |

the stock 20" wheels on a RAM are hideous IMHO. i like the body style of the new RAM, but i think the grille is over done. and why the hell are they all silver? doesn't dodge give you a choice of colors? every new RAM i've seen is silver. styling is all preference though. i think the F-150 looks beautiful, but some may think it is ugly. but can we all agree that the hood on the new Chevy trucks is butt ugly? I think so... |

Should've gotten it before Oct. 1st. Hopefully, you won't have to pay that much to register it next year now that Davis is booted out. |
