Ford GT video

I watched the commercial over and over on the Tivo on superbowl sunday.

They put it online:
http://media.ford.com/newsroom/featu...?release=16812

I would give a kidney for that car.

Man, that car is sooo hot.

For those who don't respect the GT, I would have to say that you can't call yourself a "car guy".

That is such an awsome car. I'd get one if I could afford it. Quarter mile under 12, top speed over 200mph and damn sexy. It is the one.

Pre-production review from Dr. Jeremy Clarkson (Top Gear)

On the way back to the airport, I piled into the Lincoln hire care and followed the GT back down the motorway. And I had a funny feeling, one I hadn't had since I first encountered the Ferrari 355. I can't say whether Ford's efforts to fine-tune the suspension and steering will be successful, but I sort of don't care. Because even if it does turn out to be 10 per cent less dramatic than the Euro old hands, it still trounces them in perhaps the most important arena of them all. You may respect the Porsche 911 Turbo. You may like the Lamborghini Gallardo and you may love the Ferrari 360. But the Ford GT is a car you want.

Hey, kinda OT here, but it's related to the Ford GT.

How much does a human kidney sell for on the market? I thought those were kinda like "I have two, here, have one" if you were a family member of someone in need.

If there's any money in kidney selling, I'd like to be driving one of these

"It wasn't even a contest," wrote Webster. "The Ford GT so completely dusted off its two highly recognized competitors (the Ferrari Stradale and Porsche 911 GT3) that if we wanted to make this a real challenge, we would have had to go way up the 'supercar' price ladder . . . The Ferrari and Porsche both require an upshift before 60 mph, but the Ford does not, which accounts for some of the huge sprint-time advantage."

There is no doubt that the GT40 is a pace car for an entire company. Kudos to Ford for making it happen. Now let's see how many people out there who can afford this car will choose a Ford over the status of a Lambo or a Ferrari.

When I saw that teaser ad, I thought it was a new C6 'Vette ad by the fender slit. I missed the full length ad. Thanks for posting the link!

Speaking of car ads, what did you guys think of the Dodge Magnum. It looked pretty good to me. I think Dodge needs to revitalize the Hemi Charger next.

The entire production run is already sold out for both US and EU allocations. This car is EXTREMELY popular in europe, where the GT commands respect from car enthusiats (esp. LeMans fans).

In any case, the entire European and American allocation for the GT was sold out within a few days after the initial annoucement...it's technically pointless to advertise the car. The ad's intended audience is for potential buyers of Ford's other vehicles.

Particularly, these important models are coming out:
Ford Futura (based on Mazda 6 platform)
Ford Freestyle and Five Hundred (based on Volvo S80 platform)

I stand corrected. How many cars is the initial production run? I thought Ford was planning to offer this as a standard production car like Dodge does with the Viper.

WOW Ford sure does love super tall gears. You realize there are 5 gears after that?

so? On teh bike i dont shift out of 1st till late in the 90mph range OK OK, so being able to revv to 15k RPM's is cheating - i get it.

I think Ford is doing the heartige of the GT40 proud. The original was down-right, no holds barred, BAD TO THE BONE. You just couldn't touch those cars.... Looks like they did her right and have come out with another un-touchable. I REALLY want to see the new '40 entered in some races... hell, lets get it back in Lemans (if thats even possible). How cool would that be???

Cool, ford is building a very nice car. Those are some very wicked 0-60 times even for a 500hp car. I'm guessing it's pretty lightweight, and I'm guessing it's mid engine. The C6 vettes should be pretty cool too, lots of new technology in it and a new engine. The viper is still a monster, but I think Dodge needs to replace it soon, after all the design is 10+ years old.

Now if only they'd make lighter sports cars. The weight of newer cars has been going up steadily.

Check out the Ford GT website...

They've got some excellent videos besides the "The One" commercial, including the making of "The One", "Trilogy" (which features the new mustang, the Ford GT, and the new Shelby Cobra), and a time-lapse video of the construction of a Ford GT--completely by hand. There's also a couple of clips of the original GT-40's during their domination of Le Mans in the '60's.

I love the line from the helicopter pilot from the making of "The One"..."I could always keep up with a car in a helicopter, until I shot the Ford GT..."
