saab 9-3

anyone have or test drive one of these?

they look really nice. My friend is considering going after one of these...and just wondering if anyone has any input.

Anyone also have any input on the quality/workmanship on saab's?

IMHO, Saab's are decent but overpriced. My friend has one and drives me around sometimes in it. Seems pretty solid and sturdy. Interior is nice but I think it's too much money for what you get.

the new saab 9-2 that is coming out is exactly the same as the current WRX, with the exception of the front clip. the interior is event the same, yet they charge around 6k extra for it. purty looking cars tho. just my 2c

My coworker has one...its not bad, but there's just something about Saabs that doesn't exactly stand out....maybe its the fact that the are barely any dealerships within a decent distance from me.

yeah... they don't really stand out.

and looking at the demand of the saabs...seems like if you get one that's a used for even just a year...the price drops like crazy. perhaps buying a one year or 2 year old saab would be the best bet.

My family has owned Saab cars since the two-stroke days. My fifth and last Saab was a 1996 900S (predecessor to the 9-3). I bought it used in the summer of 2000 with 50K miles on it.

I traded it off in October and lost my royal ass on it. That didn't matter, because despite meticulous maintenance during my three years of ownership it was the most unreliable, cantankerous, shophound POS vehicle I have ever held title to. I am just glad to be rid of it. NEVER AGAIN!

Saab wrote the book on expensive replacement parts, too. How 'bout a $125 positive battery cable?

I don't know - the '96 was much worse reliability-wise than the 1989 900 (my fourth Saab) that it replaced.

Your call (your buddy's, actually), but I'm done with them.

The latest Car & Driver does a comparison between the 9-3, G35, TL, 3 series something and a couple others. Might be worth looking at.

I know nothing about them but I think they are really cool cars. I think your car says something about your personality and this car says something good.

Out of those cars, I would agree with the G35 to be #1 choice. My second choice would be the TL not the 325i. You get more for your money with either the G35 or TL.
